Are there refunds or exchanges?
There are no refunds or exchanges for absences. A full refund, by cheque, is guaranteed if we cannot operate due to government-issued COVID restrictions (e.g., lockdown or reduction of service). This is the only reason a refund or exchange would be issued.
What is the coach to student ratio?
Approximately 1 coach to 8-10 athletes for the beginner/intermediate program. Approximately 1 coach for 4-5 athletes for the high performance program.
What does a typical day look like?
9AM-12pm: badminton lessons. 12AM-1PM: lunch. 1PM-2PM: badminton lessons/games. 2PM-3PM: games.
*The schedule above is an approximation. Actual schedule may differ depending on daily programming.
Information on lunch?
Not Available for 2023/24 Winter Camp. Full day athletes could opt into optional lunch. Athletes are served the same lunch that is served to our coaches. Otherwise, athletes must bring their own lunch and water. Food must not be shared. Microwaves and refrigeration not available.
Is there after-hour or before-hour care?
There is free after-hour care (3PM-5PM), with limited space, registration required. Only for full-day camp participants. After-hour may be cancelled due to new government-issued guidance/rules, for example, after-hour care may be cancelled if the government issues an order to reduce the capacity limit of the building. Athletes must be picked up by 5PM, no exceptions. A fee of $1/minute/athlete will be charged for late pick-ups. During after-hour care, athletes will be assigned a spot within the gymnasium. Athletes must remain in their spot at all times in order to ensure that physical distancing rules are followed. Athletes are required to bring their own activities to do during this time, such as books and electronics (EBC has wifi and is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items). There is no before-hour care. Doors usually open at around 8:45AM-8:50AM, however, supervision will only begin when the program begins at 9AM. It is recommended for athletes to arrive at 9AM.
What equipment do I need?
Athletes must bring their own badminton racket and clean, non-marking, indoor, certified badminton (gum bottom) shoes. Shoes with any dark spots on the bottom, regardless of size, will not be permitted on court. Athletes must also bring their own water to drink. All athletes must change their shoes upon entry, no exceptions.
What will athletes learn?
The beginner / intermediate badminton camp will introduce athletes to the sport of badminton and teach basic badminton techniques and footwork. They will also learn the rules of the game.
How do I register?
Register online or in store. Debit, Visa, and MC are accepted for regular priced registrations. One standard paper receipt or an email receipt will be provided for in-store purchases. An admin fee of $30 will be charged for duplicate receipts (e.g., in the event that a registrant lost their receipt and requires a new copy). Taxes are extra.
